A large number of people suffer from hair loss and early baldness, constantly worrying about they way they will look. Hair fall is a process that occurs naturally, the average loss of hair ranging from fifty to a hundred strands per day. These, however, are replaced by new strands of hair.
There are a number of reasons that cause premature baldness and early hair loss. People who find that baldness is a hereditary trait should avoid excessive washing of the hair because it weakens the roots, causing an increase in hair fall. Similarly, excessive combing and brushing of the hair lead to hair damage. Any imbalance in the hormonal composition of the body due to medication also has an effect on the rate of hair fall. Hair can be damaged and weakened by pollution and exposure to sunlight as well. Another important cause of hair loss is acute dandruff. Although there are a variety of natural remedies to stop hair fall, they may prove ineffective in people with hereditary baldness. Stimulation of the flow of blood and natural oils to the scalp can be brought about by a light massage of the head. This procedure also helps in the removal of dead cells. Massaging the head with crushed cloves of garlic in order to improve circulation of blood and stimulate the follicles is an ancient method of preventing hair fall. An application of onion juice to the scalp, left on for approximately half an hour before washing the hair, helps in the development of new strands of hair. Hair can be nourished to feel healthy and strong by applying a solution of coconut milk or coconut oil, mixed with a few drops of lemon. Premature balding can be prevented by eating vegetables, fruits, dairy products and wholesome grains that are rich in vitamin B6. Another important nutrient for increased growth of hair is vitamin A, made available through the juice of carrots. Almond oil, castor oil and olive oil, mixed in equal proportions and applied to the hair, have proved excellent in improving texture and quality of hair. Exposing the hair to sunlight and pollution can be avoided by wearing a scarf when venturing outside, thereby preventing damage and dryness which increases the chances of hair loss. Stress is another common cause for premature baldness, and can be taken care of by maintaining a calm and relaxed disposition at all times. Regular meditation and breathing exercises are recommended for this purpose.
