Home Remedies for Acne Treatment

I'm a 17 year old girl. I have been suffering from dark spots, acne and pimples on my face for 3-4 yrs. I don't go out in the sun and drink lots of water and eat fruits, but still my entire face is covered with them. Please suggest some natural remedies.

Spots and acne are very common skin problems associated with adolescence. A healthy diet is important in order to prevent skin problems. You have mentioned that you have plenty of fruits and water.


Although these nutrients are necessary for healthy skin, you will also need to ensure that you have a balanced diet that includes proteins and certain healthy fatty acids. Proteins and essential fatty acids help to keep your skin healthy and prevent discoloration and spots. You can include legumes, skinless chicken, and beans in your daily diet to include the amount of protein you eat on a daily basis. In addition to this, you can also include plenty of fatty fish such as salmon and mackerel in at least one dish every alternate day as these fish will help to provide you with omega fatty acids which help to keep your skin flawless and smooth. Make sure that you always have a variety of foods in your diet. This would mean that you should not have too much of your favorite food and ignore the other food groups. Your diet plays a very large role in the health of your skin and so you should make sure that you have a balanced diet in which there is an adequate amount of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. You should also make sure that you drink enough water and consume foods that have a high vitamin and mineral content as well as fiber. This is where fruits and vegetables surpass most foods. Make sure that you include various different fruits and vegetables in your daily diet to ensure that you are getting all the minerals and vitamins you need.

In addition to your diet, your daily skin care regimen also plays a very large role in the health of your skin. Using harsh cosmetic products will only serve to dry your skin and this will aggravate your skin and cause acne breakouts. Instead make sure that the products you use are gentle and suited to your skin type. Acne is caused by the blockage of your skin pores. The pores in your skin allow sebum that is produced in your sebaceous glands to come to the surface. This sebum helps to keep your skin soft and protects it from the elements. However sometimes these pores may get clogged with dead skin cells and this causes the sebum to collect within the pore and form a pimple. Make sure that you deep-cleanse your face at least once a week by steaming it and then applying a pack made out of fuller’s earth. This will help to extract any excess sebum from within your pores and prevent blockages.
