Gaining weight can be a challenging task for many people. Healthy weight gain is a result of proper diet, the right exercise program and consistency. Here are some helpful weight gain tips;
- Make smart food choices – Try to eat foods which are rich in protein such as pulses, peas and beans.
Also opt for starchy foods like rice, tapioca and potatoes. Instead of bread, choose fish or dairy products. And instead of vegetables, opt for eggs. However do not ignore these foods completely as they are still necessary for proper nutrition.
- Snack more – Snack on high calorie foods like muffins, yogurt, dried fruits and cheese sticks. However it is necessary to avoid consuming junk foods.
- Fill up on fluids – Drink lots of fluids which are rich in calories and nutrients such as fresh fruit juices and milkshakes.
- Follow an intensive exercise program – Muscle mass will come from regular, intense training. Work out at least thrice a week. Consult your doctor or a fitness trainer before beginning any workout so that you don’t overexert yourself.
- Stay hydrated – Drink lots of water every day. This will keep your energy levels high and you will have more energy for your workouts. It will also prevent dehydration which can lead to various health problems.
- Be consistent – It may take a while to get noticeable results. But don’t get disheartened. You need to be regular and consistent as your body responds only to a proper schedule. Also keep in mind that your weight is influenced by your genes.

Insufficient information regarding your height, weight, age and activity are provided. Visit a dietitian for proper guidance regarding the amount of weight gain you need and for the calorific count of foods.
