Oily hair shampoo

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of dried peppermint
  • 2 tablespoons of dried spearmint
  • 1 tablespoon of dried sage
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2/3 cup of baby shampoo

Preparation

Combine all the herbs and water and bring them to a boil in a saucepan.
Let them steep for 20 to 25 minutes and then strain them.
Mix the remaining water with baby shampoo.

Spearmint and peppermint have a cleansing property but they are also a great way to invigorate the scalp and increase the overall circulation in the area.

Baby shampoo is mild and neutral enough to cleanse the hair and the skin and not irritate it or make it greasy.

Glycerin oily hair conditioner

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup of glycerin
  • 1/3 cup of hot water
  • 2 tablespoons of liquid lecithin
  • 1/4 of sage
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of dried buttermilk powder

Preparation

Combine hot water and sage and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Strain the liquid and remove sage.
Combine all ingredients and mix well.
Apply on the freshly shampooed hair and leave on for a few minutes.
Rinse well with warm water.

This recipe does two things:

It conditiones the hair with honey which is known as an antibacterial and cleansing agent. It also introduces glycerin which is used as an oil substitute as it is not as greasy as oils are but still has a strong nourishing property.

Everyone likes to have a shiny and bouncy hair which seems to be impossible with oily hair. Try these simple home remedies to make your hair look like the one’s shown in advertisements.

1. Regularly wash hair with Fuller's earth (Multani Mitti). This will not only reduce the oil, but the hair will feel much cleaner and full-bodied as well. Difference can be seen after two-three applications.

2. A rinse made with tea and lemon juice also serves to clean up the greasiness of oily hair without interfering in its ph balance or drying it up excessively

3. Take some dry soap nuts (reetha) and soak them in water overnight. Mash them in the morning and strain the soapy solution. Add a teaspoon of shikakai powder and wash your hair.

4. Rinse your hair with the juice of a lemon mixed with distilled water. Or try mixing a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water as a finishing rinse. It helps remove the soap residue that weighs down oily hair.
