Jaundice, itself, is not a disease.  It is simply a symptom of an underlying condition.  The condition can result from malfunctions in red blood cell breakdown, the inability of the liver to regulate bile, or the inability of bile to be effectively removed from the body.  There are many serious conditions, such as cancer which can result in a jaundiced appearance.  However, there are also some lesser conditions which commonly cause a jaundiced appearance.  So, seek the advice of a trained health care practitioner to determine the cause for the jaundice.  Then determine whether the condition may be terminal. http://www.countrydoc.com
