Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, is a common condition that affects many people across the world. Although this condition can affect anyone, it is most commonly observed among people who are older than 50 years in age, people suffering from chronic constipation, people indulging in heavy exercises or activities like weight lifting, and pregnant women. Hemorrhoids is not a serious condition in the initial stages; however, it could lead to serious complications if left untreated.
Piles or hemorrhoids occurs when the veins present in the anal tissues get inflamed or swollen. This occurs on account of the excessive pressure applied on the rectum tissue due to excessive straining while passing stools, or due to applying external force on the rectum tissues while lifting heavy weights, or while indulging in strenuous physical activities, like cycling or running long distances.
Pregnant women generally experience hemorrhoids because their uterus becomes heavy and increases in size during pregnancy. This puts an additional amount of pressure on the veins present below it, causing them to swell. Many women overcome this condition after delivery, while others need a certain amount of lifestyle changes in order get rid of this condition. Please visit your doctor for a health checkup in order to negate any serious complications. If your case is not serious you can use these few simple remedies in order to get rid of this painful condition. • Drink plenty of water throughout the day. In fact you should start your day with a warm glass of water; this will help in stimulating effective bowel movements. You may add one teaspoon of honey and two teaspoons of fresh lemon juice to warm water for better results. This helps in ensuring smooth elimination of waste from the body, thus avoiding the incidences of constipation. • Include foods rich in fiber content in your diet. Fiber ensures that the waste is transported in an efficient manner from the small intestines to the colon, and finally out of the body. Vegetables, whole wheat grains and fruits are the best sources of dietary fiber. • In case you are experiencing external piles you can apply cold compresses on the affected region in order to numb the painful and burning sensation. Cold compresses work by soothing the affected veins. Warm compresses are also very effective in treating the pain associated with piles. You may also soak in a warm bath for effective relief. • Topical application of aloe vera gel will also be helpful in relieving the itchy feeling accompanying this irritating condition.
