You are having an allergic reaction to some substance. This allergic reaction is relieved by the prescription drug you are taking. However, the drug is simply suppressing your symptoms of itching. First, it is important to figure out what is causing your allergic reaction --respiratory allergens, food sensitivities or allergens, or topical exposures (or a combination of all of these.) To do this, a trained health care practitioner should complete a good history of your symptoms and a physical examination. Depending upon the cause, sometimes Vitamin C, nettles and quercetin can be used to palliate symptoms. Also, homeopathic Apis may be helpful, if swelling and redness seem to be present. http://www.countrydoc.com Dr. Karen Benton, Naturopathic Physician
