Bruising is an almost natural part of our daily lives and is a very common occurrence considering all the wear and tear that our bodies have to endure on a regular basis. Bruise is the development of an injury to the tissue that lies under the skin caused primarily by a blow from an object. This causes a rupture in the blood vessel which drains into the tissues and skin cells.
As a result, some of the other symptoms that an individual is likely to experience include swelling, pain and a noticeable discoloration of the skin. It also helps to know that certain factors, such as a deficiency in vitamin C content, play a substantial role in deciding how easily a person suffers from bruising. This is because the blood vessels tend to become weak and thin when not supplied with enough of the substance. Initially, the bruises will appear very red in color before turning into blue in a very short period of time. Probably the most long lasting effect of suffering from bruising is the permanent discoloration of the skin around the affected area.
Bruising is a problem that we all have to face at some point or the other and therefore a lot of home remedies have been developed over the years to help remedy this situation. Comfrey leaves, for example, are highly regarded for the fact that they help massively in the effective treatment of bruises. Arnica is another very viable option and mixing a small proportion of it along with water and soaking a cloth into the mixture before bandaging it over the affected area will show very good results. The constant application of parsley helps take off the blue marks permanently with the help of its opulent vitamin content. The anti inflammatory, anti-septic and astringent qualities of witch hazel make it another very effective treatment option when dealing with bruises. One of the most effective Chinese medicines when dealing with bruises is to mix 1 portion of cayenne pepper with 5 parts of melted Vaseline, allow it to cool and apply it over the affected area once a day. Another option is to prepare a tea using confrey roots and soaking a piece of cloth into the tea before applying it to the affected part of the skin. This is known to help reduce the inflammation as well as the skin discoloration.
