How to cure pinworms
(10 Jun 2010)

Pin worms are white contagious worms which are the size of a quarter of an inch in length. Pin worms are quite common in children, however even adults can suffer from the disease. An adult pinworm dwells in the upper area of the colon and lives by feeding off intestinal contents.

Many people suffering from pinworms do not show any symptoms, but usually, pin worms cause a lot of anal itching. Other symptoms are loss of appetite, bed wetting in children, insomnia, weight loss, appendicitis, irritability, appendicitis, vomiting and nausea. In women, if these worms migrate to the vagina, they can cause inflammation and a lot of itching in the genital tract. Apart from the medication prescribed by your doctor, there are other natural cures to pinworms that you can follow from home to get rid of the parasite.

Maintain high levels of bathroom hygiene. Although, pouring water on the anal area or cleaning the area with a wet cloth provides some temporary relief, make sure you dispose off the cloth and wash your hands thoroughly after use. Wash your hands with soap and water every time you visit the bathroom or touch your anus.

Trim your nails – Keep your fingernails as short as possible. Bacterial and other matter can get allocated under the long nails and spread the infection. There is even a chance of the eggs to get collected under them.

Garlic – Eat two or three small garlic cloves every day. Add enough garlic to your daily diet. Grind some garlic to make a paste, mix ½ a pinch of it with some Vaseline. Apply this on the anal region to get rid of the itchiness and to kill the eggs. This is a trusted remedy against pinworms.

Coconut - Coconut is most effective home remedy against pinworms. Eat 1 table spoon of freshly cut coconut and three hours later, have some castor oil. You could also make it a part of your diet.

Fibrous food -To get rid of the pinworms, you must follow a diet rich in fibers. Increase the amount of veggies and grains in your diet chart.

Carrot - Eat a small cup of grated carrot every morning with nothing else. Try this every morning for a week to see results.

Try any of these remedies. Pinworms do not usually persist for long and a healthy diet and good hygiene should get rid of them. However, if there is no marked improvement, consult your doctor.
