Home Remedies Acne Treatment

What is good home remedies to treat irritated acne?
(17 Nov 2009)

Acne is caused by a collection of sebum below the surface of the skin. The skin secretes sebum which is a natural oil in order to moisturize the skin and prevent it from excessive drying. However, in some cases, this sebum gets blocked and remains within the skin.

Generally this blockage is caused by dead skin cells within the pores of the skin. As the sebum starts to accumulate it causes a sizeable bump to form. Bacteria within the pores start to multiply and cause acne. Acne can spread as the bacteria can start to multiply in other unaffected areas of skin. While the exact causes have not yet been identified, it is known that hereditary factors, skin type and skin care play an important role. While an improper diet will not cause acne, certain foods can trigger an outbreak in people who already have this problem. Acne often causes intense itching and can cause the skin to become red and inflamed. There are several home remedies that you can use to help treat this type of irritated acne.

Cucumber juice is very effective in treating this condition as it is very soothing and helps to reduce inflammation. You can use fresh cucumber juice or even cucumber paste. Peel and blend a small piece of cucumber. You can apply the thin paste directly to your face or you can soak a very thin cotton pad in the juice and place it over your skin. You can also blend a small piece of carrot and a piece of tomato along with the cucumber. Tomato is slightly acidic and will help to significantly reduce sebum levels and carrots are rich in vitamin A which is essential for healthy skin. This mixed vegetable juice is an excellent skin tonic and you can apply it to your face before you go to bed. Do this on a daily basis to reduce acne outbreaks.

You can also use a soothing face pack made out of mint leaves. Wash and soak a handful of mint leaves and then blend it along with one tablespoon of coconut water. Add fuller’s earth to this paste so that it is sufficiently thick and then apply it to your face. The juice of the mint leaves is very soothing and coconut water is rich in nutiernts that are needed for good skin health. Fuller’s earth helps to decrease the amount of sebum on the surface of your skin.
