Abdominal pain during menstruation is a very common problem. Stomach cramps, constipation and mild diarrhea are also some of the common accompanying conditions during this time. These conditions are caused by the hormonal changes that occur during your menstrual period and so it is not uncommon for a woman to experience them with every monthly period.
Some women suffer from severe aches and pain while others do not show any symptoms whatsoever. Since you get these pains on a regular basis, it would be advisable to follow a regular plan to reduce as well as prevent the pain from recurring. The loss of appetite is generally caused by a combination of bloating as well as stomach pain which kills natural appetite. There are several home remedies as well as lifestyle changes that you can use to get rid of or at least drastically reduce the pain.
Parsley is a very important herb when it comes to the treatment of menstrual pains. Parsley helps to ease and reduce muscular contractions of the uterus. Mix ½ q cup of parsley juice with ½ a cup of cucumber juice and drink this at least twice a day. It is best if you have at least one glass of this mixed juice in the morning as soon as you wake up. If Parley is unavailable, you can boil 2 to 3 teaspoons of sesame seeds in about 2 glasses of water. Make sure that it is on low heat and allow it to simmer until about half the water has evaporated. Strain this liquid and drink the water to get quick relief from cramps. This remedy also helps to normalize blood flow during your monthly period. You can make a soothing ginger tea to ease abdominal pain. Chop a large piece of fresh ginger into very small pieces and allow it to steep in a glass of hot water for a few minutes. Once the water has cooled down but is still comfortably hot, you can sip it slowly. Ginger will help with stomach pain and will also help to prevent bloating which is often the cause of the pain. Menstruation pain can also be relieved by placing a large hot water bottle over the abdomen for no less than 20 minutes. The heat from the warm water bottle helps to sooth the tense muscles of the abdominal area and will reduce muscle pains and aches. If the pain is very severe visit your doctor as the pain could also be caused by Adenomyosis or Endometriosis. These are just two of the more serious conditions associated with this type of pain and so a through check-up is necessary.
