Can mayo help my hair?
( 5 Apr 2010)

Mayonnaise is extremely useful for your hair, but only in particular types of situations. If you are asking about the use of mayonnaise as a hair tonic, this is hardly the best thing you can use. However, if you are suffering from head lice, then mayonnaise is possibly the best kind of cure that could be used for your condition.

The proper way to use mayonnaise is to leave it in the hair roots and strands for about a couple of hours and then wash it off using your regular shampoo. This will be extremely useful in curing the hair of lice. Moreover, if used regularly for about a week or so, it would ensure that there are no leftover lice that will begin to nest in your hair again. Sometimes, lice do nest and lay eggs in human hair and scalp. When a living infestation of lice has been removed effectively, the eggs, which are incubating, may later produce louse. Mayonnaise, apart from the use of tea tree oil, is one such method that will help to prevent this from happening.

If you want to keep your hair in excellent shape, there are a number of methods that could be used for the purpose of nourishing as well as maintaining your hair. One of them is to regularly condition your hair using oil. The best way to use this is to warm some hair oil and gently massage it into your scalp and strands. For excellent results, keep this in your hair for about two hours and then wash it off as you normally would, with your daily or regular use shampoo. Henna powder is also an excellent nourishing hair conditioner. A watery paste can be made with this and applied to your strands and scalp. Apply this systematically and leave it in your hair for about 6 hours. This can then be washed off with water. When done once a month, this will keep your hair in excellent and well-nourished condition. Alternately, it is also a good idea to keep hair short. This makes it easy to care for as well. It is also always better to use wooden combs and brushes as this is also an excellent way to prevent excessive drying of hair. Do not tie hair back too tightly as this will cause long strands to weaken and break. Leave your hair loose as often as possible to prevent hair damage.
