Giardia are protozoans affecting warm blooded animals, transmitted through cyst contaminated food or water. Infection results in diarrhoea, dehydration and loss of weight. Garlic capsules or tablets are beneficial against giardia.
Black walnut and goldenseal are also effective remedies. Sesquiterpene lactones in wormwood has a static action on these parasites, though physician's guidance is recommended. Increase the intake of Vitamin C and zinc, as they boost the immune system. Vitamin A in the form of carrots, squash and sweet potatoes are helpful, as they heighten immunity against larvae penetration. Avoid refined and processed foods, coffee, alcohol and sugar.
