Gastritis is a very common condition and is characterized by the inflammation of the lining of the stomach. This occurrence is not attributed to one particular condition or causing factor, but is the result of a combination of a number of medical problems. Some of the most common causes of the condition include excessive consumption of alcohol, a prolonged usage of certain types of medication such as NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs) as well as the presence of an infection known as H.
Pylori. The condition can have a significantly debilitating effect on an individual’s daily schedule. Some of the more prominent symptoms include nausea, vomiting, belching, and a burning sensation in the upper abdomen as well as a feeling of being full. If a patient notices some amount of blood present in the vomit or even the stools appearing to be excessively dark, this could be an indication of bleeding within the stomach and will call for immediate medical attention.
Because the condition is primarily the result of stomach acid, any treatment would be focused on reducing the stomach acid content. This can be easily achieved with the avoidance of certain types of foods, medication or beverages. The best way to treat gastritis naturally is by following a very specific diet that has shown extremely good results when followed to its specifications. When the symptoms are at their most prominent, the patient should limit any intake to purely fruit juices throughout the day. As a result of the fasting, the toxic elements and intake of irritants that trigger the reaction is effectively stopped, allowing the stomach to de-stress and start repairing itself. Once the symptoms start to subside, the patient should then progress to an all fruit diet stretched over a period of three days. The most beneficial fruits when suffering from gastritis include apples, pears, pineapples, grapefruits and melons.
Quite obviously, anything that is known to either cause or complicate the condition such as smoking or consumption of alcohol should be stopped immediately. Moreover, certain foods like chilies; flesh foods and strong teas and coffee should also be avoided, as they tend to irritate the already damaged lining of the stomach. After the three day all fruit diet is finished, the patient can indulge in a well balanced diet that includes three basic food groups - seeds, grains and nuts. It is also important that the patient consumes as much water as possible over the course of the day in order to speed up the recovery timeframe.
