Whenever anyone has a breathing problem, it is primarily associated with asthma as it is the most common symptom for it but there are a number of reasons as to why you can have breathing problems. There is a possibility that your lung flow test did not match the symptoms because you may not be suffering from asthma. Some people are not able to breathe properly when they have a cold while others would have a difficulty in breathing due to acute sinusitis.
However, most of the breathing problems are long term and include allergies due to dust or pollution and asthma. Breathing problems can also be caused due to congestion in the chest and therefore, it is very important to keep your chest free of mucus. It can also occur if you are suffering from pneumonia and constant coughing. Common symptoms of breathing problems are nasal congestion, constant itchy or watery eyes, wheezing, shallow breathing or a runny nose.
To reduce breathing problems, mix a few fennel seeds to a cup of water and boil it till the mixture is reduced to half. Strain the mixture and have 1 tablespoon of it every day for a few days. Make onions and honey a regular part of your diet as both considerably help in keeping away breathing problems. Exercise regularly so that you are able to keep yourself physically fit as lack of fitness could be another cause for difficulty in breathing. Indulge in a healthy and nutritious diet that includes a lot of leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Increase your consumption of water and drink herbal teas as it helps in reducing chronic breathing problems to a great extent. Do not keep furry pets in your house, wash your bed spreads once a week and wear a protective mask covering your nose every time you clean or dust your home. Avoid using air fresheners and perfumes if you or anyone around is having breathing difficulties. Instead go for soaps, shampoos and detergents that are not scented to ease out the breathing. Apart from all the above mentioned measures, keep your house clean, free from dust and quit smoking completely. But if you feel that your condition is worsening and nothing is helping you at all, it is best you consult your doctor. In conclusion, breathing problems and other symptoms does not necessarily imply that the person is suffering from asthma but in case if such symptoms exist, medical attention is necessary.
