Acne is a skin disorder which is a result of changes in hormones experienced by adolescents and thus, you will find almost 89 percent of teenagers and those in their twenties suffering from acne. This condition goes away with adulthood however there is no guarantee that older people are free from this condition. Acne if not treated properly, can lead to scars which are permanent marks.
These marks can be very unpleasant as it disrupt the appearance especially if it is on the face. Moreover they can have a psychological effect on most people. Acne can appear not only on the face but also on the back, neck, chest, shoulders and the upper arms. Apart from hormonal changes, acne can also be caused because of the irregular lifestyle that most of us lead like irregular eating timings, eating the wrong kind of food and too much consumption of sugar, starches and fatty foods. There are small glands present inside your hair follicles that produce oil known as sebum which mixes with the skin cells that are present in the follicles and move outwards. With the accumulation of dirt and dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, this outward movement is restricted. The sebum thus mixes with the bacteria present resulting in the formation of acne.
There are a number of home remedies that can help in the treatment of acne. To reduce the dark spots, you could rub raw garlic over the affected area. Aloe Vera is another great method to treat acne as it has a number of anti- inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and this gel can also be taken internally as it helps to clean up the digestive tract which in turn helps to clear the skin. Lemon juice and rose water can be mixed in equal quantities and applied on the affected patch. Keep it on for 30 minutes every night before washing your face with plain water. Grind orange peel, mix it with water to form a paste and apply it on your face as it helps to get rid of acne. Water is extremely essential for your body especially for a healthy and glowing skin; therefore, you should drink at least 4 pints of water every day. A healthy diet directly reflects on your skin and therefore, you should indulge in food that has a lot of leafy vegetables and fresh fruit juices. Avoid touching your pimples and do not squeeze them at all. Also, cut down on your intake of caffeinated beverages, chocolates and oily foods.
