My son is 11 months old. He has rashes on his face and some patches on his head. I'm currently using an anti-fungal cream on him. Is there any home remedy I can use to make the rash disappear fast?

Rashes could occur due to many different reasons. Anti-fungal creams can usually take care of all kinds of fungal infections. If the rash is being caused due to a fungal infection, the rashes would come out completely in some time.

However, there are home remedies for face rashes that will take care of your child's problems. Dandelion flowers can be used to control skin rashes. These flowers contain a compound known as taraxasterol, which can be utilized by brewing a dandelion tea. Apply this on your face twice a week.

Apply some olive oil or vitamin E oil on the areas where the rashes have begun to form. If there is any kind of itchiness and inflammation, the vitamin E oil can help renew cell structure and promote the repair of the skin where rashes have erupted. If you cannot find vitamin E oil, you can also use evening primrose oil on your child's face. Both inflammation and itching can be treated with these remedies.

Use fresh aloe vera gel on your face, which is a great treatment for a rash on the face. Simply pluck an aloe leaf and break it in two. The gel between these two parts can be applied on your rashes to treat them completely.

Since your son is only 11 months old, it is best if you consult a doctor before using any kind of home remedies and treatment.

What are the causes for rashes on face?

There are many causes for a rash on the face. Right from allergic reactions to side effects of medications, rashes on the face can be attributed to a lot of things. If these rashes develop, you would need to find out the exact cause before you find a cure for the rash on the face. Here are some of the main causes of rashes on face.

  • Eczema: This is a form of dermatitis that may occur anywhere on the body. Eczema could be caused due to allergic reactions from soaps and detergents as well as microbial infections. These rashes are usually very itchy and can also be painful. However, they seldom ooze.
  • Erysipelas: This is a bacterial infection that is caused by a bacterial strain known as the A. streptococcus. These bacterial infections occur if you cut your skin and the bacteria enter your blood stream. Your skin may get red and swollen, and may also become warm to the touch.
  • Lupus: This is a disease that impairs the immune system. Lupus is much more common in women than in men. Lupus may cause a butterfly like rash on your face that covers the nose and part of your cheeks. If you spend any time in the sun, the rashes may become even more severe.

Can a rash be a symptom of any other health condition?

If you have a rash on your skin, it is because of a health condition. Although a rash is not a disease in itself, it is a symptom of health conditions. Scaly patches of skin may be caused when you have an infection. There are many types of skin rashes, and both parasitic infections and fungal infections cause rashes on the skin.

Bacterial infections, such as those caused by A. streptococcus can cause scaly and itchy patches. These scaly patches can be itchy, inflamed, and even red in color. You may even have red itchy bumps or patches all over the body. Some symptoms of a rash on the face can be indicative of serious health problems. A butterfly shaped rash on your face, which involves the nose and the cheeks, can be a sign of an autoimmune disease known as Lupus. If not treated, this can be a fatal disease.

Rosacea is another condition where you can have rashes all over your skin. A rose colored rash is one of the initial symptoms of typhoid, and similar rashes may also appear on your skin when you have HIV or HPV. Both HIV and HPV can cause destruction of the immune system. These viruses cause progression of symptoms and can be ultimately fatal.

How do you get rid of the itchiness caused by skin rash?

When you have skin rashes, these will itch and cause you a lot of discomfort. As you scratch your skin, it may become prone to infection. Scratching the skin not only causes infection, but it will also cause scarring. If your skin rash is very itchy, you can apply some fresh aloe vera gel on it to soothe it. This gel will not only help heal the rash, but will also help you deal with the pain and the itching that you experience. If the skin is dry and scaly, apply some fragrance free moisturizer on it. This will help you keep your skin soft and itch free. Use the moisturizer every few hours to improve skin texture.

Another itchy rash treatment involves the use of calamine lotion. Calamine lotion can be applied generously on your skin rashes to soothe them. These will also prevent further rashes from occurring on your skin. If you want to get rid of an itchy rash, the best way to deal with it is to find the cause of the condition and get it treated. If you have a fungal rash, it would not get treated completely until you use some anti-fungal lotions. For viral and bacterial infections, medications may be required.

Keep baby's skin clean and dry at all times. Give the baby a bath in lukewarm water and keep the rash dry and uncovered.A cooler and less humid environment can also help.
