Even though mosquito bites are usually harmless, except when they may be the root cause of a number of conditions such as malaria. Moreover, the fact that it is not uncommon to suffer from a mosquito bite on a daily basis; they can be more of an annoyance than anything else. Mosquitoes tend to be attracted to the smell of certain people while certain bodies tend to also give off an odor that masks this scent. As a result, mosquitoes are not that attracted to certain individuals as they are to others. Mosquito repellents also provide the body with these scent and when the mosquito gets a whiff of this scent, it tends to avoid that person and flies over to someone else to feast on.
Because of the fact that mosquito bites are such a common occurrence, there are a number of natural treatments you could use in order to ease the irritation you experience. One of the most highly regarded options is to peel a banana and rub the inside part of the banana peel on the skin. In addition to the itching stopping almost immediately, you will also notice the inflammation go down dramatically within a period of about 15 to 20 minutes. After another hour, wash the affected area with some normal water. It is also important to remember to avoid scratching as this will only serve to increase the irritation and discomfort. Another option is to create a paste of baking soda and a little water to make the paste a little thick. Spread this mixture over the affected area of the skin and leave it on for about a period of 30 minutes to experience significant relief from the irritation. The application on an ice pack will also ease the irritation on the skin.
