In my opinion, epsom salts taken internally are not a "cure" for hemorrhoids --nor are hemorrhoids a cause for constipation. Hemorrhoids are simply a symptom of poor venous circulation (and may be triggered by pressure from straining to eliminate.) This circulatory issue may be caused by a variety of different lifestyle factors or a genetic predisposition.
Eating a balanced diet with alot of dark leafy green vegetables will help your glucose balance and your constipation. Ensure you are drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces of pure filtered water daily to help your elimination. Ground flax seeds may also be a good addition to your diet to increase fiber and reduce constipation. Vitamin C and other forms of magnesium (rather than epsom salts) may help elimination, but don't contribute the range of nutrients which whole foods provide. http://www.countrydoc.com Dr. Karen Benton, Naturopathic Physician
