Mint and basil plants growing as a natural fence serves to repel flies from entering. Potpourri of dried mint and basil leaves also does the trick. A natural repellent can be created from essential aromatherapy oils. Add drops of lavender, tea tree oil and vegetable glycerin apple cider vinegar and use it as a repellent for flies. You can even use eucalyptus oil, diluted with water, as a spray to keep flies away. You can also leave only one small light on in the room and as the flies gravitate to the lights, you can swat away.
