Hemorrhoids or piles as it is more commonly known, is the condition where the veins around the lower rectum or anus swells or gets inflamed. The condition may also lead to some bleeding from these veins. The condition exists predominantly in two types – internal and external.
While external piles is easy to identify, as it is visible and can be felt outside the anus, the internal occurrence of the condition takes place inside the anus and, although causing much pain and discomfort to the sufferer, can hardly be noticed by the naked eye. Internal piles will very often also include a high loss of blood, while the external occurrence may have only minimal blood loss. The most common types of piles, however, is a combination of the two where the swelling exists inside the anus as well as just outside.
The development of piles is a gradual process. First, the condition develops in the rectum or anal canal, after which the piles start to protrude from the anus when the bowels are opened, but will return to normal after a while. The condition will then escalate to a phase where the piles will only return to their internal position when physically forced to do so, while the last stage of the condition sees the piles remain outside the anus permanently. The condition can be caused by a number of factors including chronic constipation, heredity, anal intercourse, pregnancy or even aging.
Over the years a number of trusted and reliable home remedies have popped up from all over the world. You could try a few to see if they work on your system and help you get rid of this terrible condition. Using cow’s milk, prepare some buttermilk and add peppercorns, ginger and rock salt. Drink this twice a day for best results. If your condition of piles leads to a lot of blood loss, you could try allowing ¼ liter of goat’s milk to curdle over the course of the night and, in the morning, add equal amounts of carrot juice and blend it before drinking the mixture. Another widely used home remedy is to take 1 tablespoon of roasted black cumin and another tablespoon of cumin seeds that are not roasted, mix them together before adding it to a glass of cold water and drink the concoction once every day. You must also watch your diet carefully. Indulging in foods like fruits, fruit juices, foods rich in fiber like papayas and figs can help significantly improve your condition.
