Arthritis is a very painful condition that attacks the lining of the patient’s joints and bones. If ignored, arthritis leads to complete damage of bone joints and cartilages. A person suffering from arthritis will notice swelling and inflammation in his or her joints, although it may affect other parts of the body as well, like in the case of lupus that affects the lungs and kidneys.

An inflammation and swelling in the joint accompanied with an inability to move the joint and stiffness, are the main symptoms of this condition. Most people either experience rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis, both of which are equally painful. There are no cures discovered as of now when it comes to treating arthritis, and as such treatment consists of alleviating the symptoms, and controlling the condition rather than curing it completely.

  • Weight loss is one of the most commonly advised remedies when it comes to treating arthritis. The entire weight of the body is borne by the knees, being overweight increases the pressure on the knees, causing it to rub against each other more severely. Therefore, people who are overweight are expected to lose weight when diagnosed with this condition.
  • The consumption of raw potato juice every morning is considered very beneficial in treating arthritis. For this purpose you can slice a potato into thin slices without peeling its skin off. Keep these slices in a glass of cold water, and drink this solution early in the morning, preferably on an empty stomach. Raw potatoes contain beta-carotene and polyphenols that are anti oxidative and anti inflammatory in nature. These help in reducing the painful swelling and deposition of minerals on the bones around the joints.
  • Drinking a juice made by mixing equal amounts of carrot juice, beet juice, celery and spinach is also very beneficial in treating arthritis. They help in boosting the body’s immune system, and reduce the pain and swelling.
  • Pineapples are also effective when it comes to treating arthritis. An enzyme known as bromelain found in pineapples is very good when it comes to reducing the painful swelling brought about arthritis. You may either eat a pineapple or drink its juice in order to achieve effective results.
  • Avoid indulging in red meats, alcohol, chocolates and other rich foods, as they lead to high uric acid levels in the body, thus worsening the condition of a patient.
  • Exercising regularly is one of the most ignored of all suggestions, as arthritis makes walking difficult. In this case, you can indulge in exercises like swimming or slow walking, as this will help keep your joints flexible.
