- High levels of RBCs in blood can be due to dehydration, hypoxia (decreased oxygen in blood), obstructive lung disease or congestive heart failure.
- Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV) when low indicates that the size of RBC will be smaller than normal (microcytic).
- Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH) and Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) when low indicates that the amount and percent of hemoglobin in the RBC is lower than normal respectively.
- Red cell distribution width when is high indicates greater variation in the size of RBCs.
