Piles remedies
(10 Sep 2009)

Piles, also known as hemorrhoids are a condition in which the veins in a patient’s anus become inflamed or swollen. Piles can be classified into two categories: internal piles and external piles. Internal piles are not easily identifiable, and therefore treatment begins only once the symptoms become severe or painful.

On the other hand, external piles can be detected as soon as it occurs as the veins protrude out of the anus. Piles is a painful condition and can also be a cause of social embarrassment. Although anybody can experience piles, people above the age of 50 are more prone to suffering from this condition. This is because with age the tissue supporting the veins in the rectum loses its elasticity and stretches. Piles is also commonly experienced by woman who are pregnant, as a result of excessive pressure placed on the anus while passing stools. However, the most common cause of piles is chronic constipation.

When a person is constipated he / she exerts additional force while passing stools. This additional pressure causes the veins in the anus to swell or get inflamed. Internal piles may cause you to experience bloody stools. Remedies for piles revolve around alleviating the symptoms like burning, itching and painful sensation, as well as treating chronic constipation which is the root cause. Dietary and lifestyle changes prove very beneficial when it come to treating piles.
