Toothaches are among the oldest of problems that humans have had to cope with. Scientists have in fact found mummified corpses and the remains of our distant ancestors with cavities and other dental ailments that we are familiar with. In the context of many old civilizations and cultures evidence has even been found for the use of natural treatments and remedies to overcome and live with problems like these.
Today we have started to rediscover the efficacy of some of this long forgotten knowledge of self healing through natural methods. While modernism and industrialism quite naturally fuelled the skeptic in us to dismiss such methods of treatment it also pushed us to investigate and seek the truth. As a result natural medicine is gaining popularity today as a viable alternative to many conventional treatments.
There are a variety of natural remedies that are effective against toothaches providing quick relief from the pain. Unfortunately in this scenario you would need to visit a dentist to diagnose the problem and treat it appropriately. While natural methods can be used to minimize the symptoms and the toothache itself they are unlikely to cure the cause of the toothache. Neglecting the problem and merely relying on symptomatic treatment for temporary relief can prove to be a lot more expensive in the long run. In the meantime however here are some natural treatments that should help you manage the toothache until you can consult your dentist.
Vanilla extract can be used as a natural remedy for toothaches. Simply apply a few drops on to the affected tooth for some quick relief.
Clove oil is possibly the most valuable natural ingredient for dental health and has a long history of usage in dental care. Clove oil is still used today in most commercial dental care products such as toothpastes and mouthwashes. It therefore follows logically that is should also be a vital ingredient in many natural remedies for dental care.
A dash of pepper powder mixed with clove oil should be applied on the affected tooth for relief.
A paste made with vinegar and bay berry bark can also work as a useful remedy for affected teeth.
Onions are another valuable ingredient and although they may make your breath smell, they do kill germs in the mouth.
Restrict your intake of sugar rich foods and carbonated drinks.
Make it a point to visit your dentist for a check up whether or not these remedies work.
