Gallstones are formed in the gallbladder which contains and collects the bile. Gallstones are of different sizes it could be as small as a grain or as larger as a golf ball. Gallstones are created when there is too much bile concentration in the gallbladder.
As most stones are made up of cholesterol, it is necessary to make amendments in your dietary habits to reduce 'bad fats' and include 'good fats' with a diet high in omega3 and omega6 fatty acids such as fish oils and plant oils.
Drinking at least half your body weight of water daily will aid in elimination of stones.
A balanced diet consisting of plenty of dark leafy green vegetables such as kale, Swiss chard, romaine lettuce and dandelion greens ensure a healthy liver and gallbladder.
For more information on symptoms, causes and home remedies for gallstones read the article Home Remedies for Gallstones.
For the immense pain you’re experiencing try application of hot packs and fermentation to the upper abdomen. You might require surgery if the stone is too large, pain is intense or if the stones have been present for a long period of time. A health care professional based on the information provided by you will be able to plan a particular treatment suitable to your needs.
