Advice on loose stools
what can be the cause of loose stools
( 6 Jun 2006)
The most common cause for loose, watery stools is infection from viruses, bacteria or parasites. Eating infected food with these parasites can trigger a reaction. Some medications like antibiotics and also artificial sweeteners can cause loose stools.
There are various medical conditions which can also cause these symptoms. They are urinary tract infections, malabsorption, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and so on. Seek prompt professional medical advice about the cause of your loose stools. Your doctor may consider stool test to check for infection and malabsorption. Discuss your condition with your personal physician or a gastroenterologist. Your doctor will guide you about the proper care plan.
