To soothe your throat you can try – - Warm water and salt gargles. This when done 3 times a day is very beneficial. Specially do the gargles in the night before sleeping.
- Milk has a soothing effect on the tonsillitis. Add ¼ tsp turmeric powder and a pinch of salt to hot milk and drink twice daily, every morning and night.
- Make an herbal tea using ginger, mint leaves, tea leaves, holy basil, pepper and honey. Drinking just an ounce of this tea will help to soothe your tonsillitis.
- Avoid sour, spicy, oily/fried foods, cold water/cold foods, carbonated drinks, alcohol or cigarette as they further tend to irritate the throat. Instead have hot vegetable soup or broths to soothe your throat.
