Ester-C is an advanced form of vitamin C available in the form of tables, capsules and powders in the market. In case of Ester-C; vitamin C is esterified with calcium and citrus bioflavonoid complex that helps in faster absorption of vitamin C in the body, then the normal counterpart.
- Citrus bioflavonoid complex works synergistically with vitamin C by scavenging free radicals in the body and acting as a potent antioxidant.
- Calcium carbonate when combined with vitamin C helps in forming a neutral pH formula which is very subtle to the digestive system, compared to normal vitamin C.

As Ester-C is much more potent then vitamin C, the efficiency of all the vital functions preformed by vitamin C in the body is increased by that folds. It supports the immune system, acts as a potent antioxidant, gives anti-inflammatory support, and maintains cardiovascular and overall health.
It should be taken in appropriate dose which is recommended by your specialist.

Some definitions may be helpful.  Vitamin C = ascorbic acid   In organic chemistry, typically an "ester" is a combination of an alcohol and an acid.  However, "Ester C" is actually a mineral salt (a salt is produced when an acid combines with a base.)  In this case, "Ester C" is calcium ascorbate plus other compounds which the manufacturer claims will improve the bioavailability of the ascorbic acid.  There are other mineral salts of ascorbic acid besides calcium, and they may include potassium, magnesium, zinc, molybdenum, chromium, manganese, etc.  http://www.countrydoc.com
