Blood in feces is definitely a cause for concern and could be a warning sign of a possible condition or a symptom of an existing one. Piles, hemorrhoids, or anal fissures are just a few possibilities, but there are many other possible causes for the presence of blood in stools. Is there any particular reason why you suspect or are concerned about the risks of piles?

You haven’t really explained the background to this condition you’re experiencing or if you have suffered from piles in the past, or if you suffer from severe constipation or any other factors that put you at risk of developing piles.

There are very specific circumstances or conditions that put you at a significant risk of developing piles, and controlling or eliminating these factors would help to minimize the chances of developing piles. Here are the commonly accepted risk factors for piles:
  • Straining to pass a stool
  • If you suffer from frequent or chronic constipation or diarrhea
  • Sitting on the toilet seat for extended periods of time
  • Old age
  • Pressure on the veins due to physiological changes as during pregnancy or childbirth
  • Obesity
  • Liver disease
  • Chronic cough and sneezing
  • Constant dependence on, or prolonged usage of laxatives and enemas.

The treatment would of course depend on the condition so in the absence of an accurate diagnosis I can not recommend any treatment plan with any degree of certainty. If you are indeed experiencing the beginnings or early stages of piles or hemorrhoids however there are certain remedies that will help. Keep in mind however that treatment for chronic constipation, piles or hemorrhoids are very closely related and although largely directed at providing relief from symptoms are fundamentally long term in nature. Symptomatic treatments without changes in lifestyle and diet will have no lasting effect and only serve to postpone the ailment at best. That said here are some remedies and practices for both quick relief and a lasting solution.
  • Although a high fiber diet is recommended it is not necessary. What is necessary is that you follow a diet that has an adequate fiber content along with other vital nutrients. Do not focus on one at the expense of others. Include a lot of fresh fruits and veggies to your diet, as well as whole grain food varieties.
  • Poor fluid intake can aggravate and contribute to your problem significantly so make sure you drink adequate amounts of water and other nonalcoholic and non aerated or non carbonated fluids. The fluid content helps soften and ease passage of stools.
  • Daily soaks in a sitz bath can help alleviate the pain.
  • Ice packs also provide some quick relief.
  • A fruit diet for a week followed by a gradual return to a normal but healthy diet will help your system recuperate.
