People with an oily skin type often suffer from pimples. Our skin produces sebum which is an oily substance that works as a natural moisturizer to protect your skin. However, sometimes, dead skin cells within the pores of the skin combine with this sebum to form a plug.

Once this happens, sebum from the gland fills up beneath the blockage and bacteria within the pore cause an infection and lead to a raid bump called a pimple.

Since pimples occur due to blocked pores, it is important to keep your pores clean. Heat causes the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum and sweat.

Steam your face for at least 15 minutes once a week. You can steam your face by heating a large saucepan of water on low heat until it boils. Take it off the heat and drape a towel over your head so that the steam cannot escape. You can add the fresh juice of a single lemon to the water in the saucepan. Lemon juice is acidic in nature and will help to dissolve the excess oil on the surface of your skin. Use a timer to ensure that you steam your face for an adequate amount of time.

After you steam your face, you should apply a face pack. This will help to draw out and absorb the excess oil that is within your pores. This helps to keep the pores free of dead skin cells and prevent pimples. You can make your own face pack by mixing orange or tomato juice and a few spoons of fuller’s earth which is   a very absorbent clay.  Alternatively, you can make a face pack out of Bengal or black gram flour and lemon juice.

You will also need to exfoliate your face on a regular basis to ensure the timely removal of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. Dry orange peels and then lightly powder them. Mash a fresh garlic pod along with a few spoons of water. Mix this liquid with the orange peel powder and enough water to make it into a paste. Scrub your face gently with this face scrub. This face scrub for pimples contains orange peel powder that helps to exfoliate your skin as well as prevent pimples. Garlic is a very powerful anti-bacterial agent and kills off the bacteria within the clogged pores.

In addition to this, it is important that you follow a healthy diet. Cut down on your intake of junk food and increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Also make sure that you drink an adequate amount of water as this too will help to prevent pimples.
