Remedies for Dark Skin

i am dark i want to become fair?

The color of an individual’s skin largely depends on his/ her race and genetic make up. However, prevailing climatic conditions too play a significant role. For instance, people living in and around the tropics display darker skin complexions.


All the above factors qualify as natural reasons for a particular skin complexion, and therefore cannot be altered. However one can lighten their skin tone by a few shades, but can never really change their natural skin tone.

There is a common belief amongst many people around the world: Fair is beautiful! However this is far from the truth, as beautiful skin does not depend on the color of ones skin, but rather on a person’s skin texture. Therefore rather than wanting to become fair it would be better to concentrate your efforts on maintaining a healthy skin texture, that would automatically lead to a radiant and beautiful you! These simple home remedies if followed patiently, will help to lighten your skin color by eliminating any tanning you may have experienced.
  • The skin constantly repairs itself and forms layers of new skin below the epidermis that is the outermost layer of the skin. The body keeps shedding skin in order to reveal the newer layer. You can help the body in this process of exposing newly formed skin by using a simple method called exfoliation. Take a tomato and slice it into half. Gently rub the sliced tomato against your face allowing the juice to soak into your skin. After you have covered your entire face with the juice, allow it to dry completely. Splash your face with a little water to moisten the dried tomato juice. Use a spoonful of sugar to gently scrub your face and exfoliate your skin.  Tomato is known to be a good natural bleaching agent and will help lighten your skin tone. Sugar, since it is rough, will help in the process of exfoliation. Follow this remedy with a cold water face wash to shrink the skin pores and even out your skin texture.
  • You can also make a face pack out of yogurt, turmeric powder and honey to lighten your skin tone and nourish your skin. Turmeric and honey have anti septic and anti fungal qualities, and yogurt helps to soothe the skin. In addition to this, yogurt contains healthy bacteria that help to reduce the amount of harmful bacteria on the surface of your skin.  Wash the face pack off with cold water after a maximum time of 20 minutes.
