The rate of hair growth varies from person to person and is largely determined by your genes. There is no way to speed up the process however there are several ways in which you can optimize it. There are several factors that can slow down hair growth and eliminating them is the key to faster hair growth.

Your diet plays a very important role in determining your rate of hair growth. It is important to have a healthy balanced diet. Many people on crash diets find that their hair becomes dull and lifeless and seems to stop growing altogether.

Avoid fried foods as they have unhealthy fats but do not avoid all fats. Some healthy fatty acids like the Omega acids are essential for hair growth. Use olive oil, flaxseed oil, almond oil and other healthy oils that are high in these acids. In addition to this, have moderate amounts of red meat as a high meat intake has been linked to many skin and hair problems. Several vitamin deficiencies have been linked to poor hair growth as well as thinning hair.

Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables as they are high in micronutrients and minerals that will ensure proper hair growth. You can substitute your morning caffeine with fruit juice or a fruit bowl as this would be a healthier option. In addition to just optimizing your rate of hair growth, a balanced diet will also help to keep your hair smooth and moisturized. A healthy diet would therefore provide your hair with volume and bounce.

Exercise too is extremely important for hair growth as it helps to boost the body’s metabolism and increase blood circulation. It is best to work out for at least 30 minutes in the morning. This keeps your metabolic rate high for the next couple of hours. You can also exercise early in the evening if you wish to, as this will ensure that your levels remain elevated. Do not exercise just before you go to bed as this will be detrimental to your sleep patterns. Make sure that you exercise daily even if it is moderate or light exercise, as a sedentary lifestyle can drastically slow down hair growth.

In addition to this, make sure that you follow a hair care regimen that is gentle on your hair. Use cosmetic products that suit your hair. Deep condition your hair at least once a month with a nutritious hair mask made out of honey, banana and avocado. You should also oil your hair on a regular basis with coconut or olive oil as this will help to increase   blood circulation to your scalp and provide it with essential nutrients.
