Pimples and acne are a common problem that can be treated very effectively with a few simple home remedies. A pimple can take the form of a pustule or papule. A pustule is a pus like boil that appears on the exterior of the affected skin area.
A papule is a non pus eruption on the skin. A pustule or papule can be treated in the same manner. However you must make sure that you do not break or scratch them, as this could lead to them spreading.
During the course of our everyday life our body performs various functions that we may be unaware of. One of the many functions that go unnoticed is the shedding of old dead skin cells being replaced by new skin cells. Sometimes in the process of shedding old skin cells, the body fails to eliminate the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, due to the poor facial hygiene maintained by an individual. The sebaceous glands that produce sebum, an oily substance needed by the skin to keep it moisturized, get clogged due to the accumulation of these dead skin cells. This leads to the formation of pimples. From the above one can safely say that the main cause of pimples is the presence of dead skin cells that clog the pores. So in order to solve your problem, it is important that you focus on tackling this factor effectively.
Suggestion 1: Allow the pimple to mature: do not try to burst it open forcefully as this could worsen your condition. In the meantime, you could simply maintain proper skin care and hygiene by washing your face regularly with normal room temperature water. If your skin is excessively oily you could use a mild face wash as well. Add a few drops of lemon oil to boiling water. Now bend over the boiling water, allowing your face to absorb the steam by covering your head with a towel. This will help unclog the closed pores. Be sure to wipe your face dry with a soft towel after washing or steaming your face, as dust particles could settle on the moist surface, nullifying the effect of washing or cleansing the skin pores through steaming. You could apply un-flavored yogurt to the pustules as this would help reduce the irritation caused and also help in reducing the pimple size. Including yogurt in your diet too would be highly beneficial, as it is cooling and contains healthy bacteria. These healthy bacteria help to stabilize many of the metabolic systems in the body. Thus, eating yogurt on a regular basis can even help to reduce sebum levels.
Suggestion 2: Once the pimple has reduced in size, or has opened up on its own you can move to the next step. In this step you need to help your skin in the process of shedding old dead cells through a method known as exfoliation. For this all you would need is a tomato and some yogurt. Make a paste of the tomato and mix it in the yogurt. Apply this to your facial skin and allow it to dry. Once it has dried use sugar or a loofa sponge, to scrape the application off in a gentle circular motion. The tomato and yogurt will nourish the skin, while the sugar granules or loofa sponge would help exfoliate the skin. Exfoliate your skin regularly as this will help you get rid of the dead skin cells that get accumulated on the skin.
It is also recommended that you drink plenty of water and avoid oily, deep fried foods in order to prevent future outbreaks and keep your skin healthy.
