Homemade remedies for blackheads are very effective as long as you use them on a regular basis. Blackheads are caused by a blockage of dead skin cells and sebum within the pores of your skin. Although blackheads are black in color they are not caused by dirt.

However, it is important to keep your skin free of excess oil as pollutants that settle on the oil can damage your skin and make it look dull.

A skin care routine for blackheads includes the regular use of home remedies as well as adequate cleansing. If you have oily skin you will need to wash your skin at least thrice a day with a face wash and if you have dry skin you will need to wash it just once.

You should use cosmetic products that suit your skin and are meant specifically for your skin type. A face wash that leaves your skin dry will only cause your skin to produce excess oil to counter the excess drying. In addition to this, you can rinse your face with lukewarm water through out the day to keep your skin free of dust and grime. If you have dry skin, you will need to use a moisturizer after you wash your face to prevent your skin from drying.

I have listed several home remedies for blackheads that you can use to get rid of your blackheads and prevent further outbreaks.
  • Lemon juice is very effective in treating blackheads as it is acidic in nature and helps to dissolve the excess oil within the skin pores. Wash your face thoroughly with warm water. Add the juice of a single lemon to a saucepan of hot water and use it to steam your face. Steam your face for at least 10 minutes. The steam also makes your face sweat and this helps to wash out your pores. You can then scrub your face lightly to get rid of any excess oil.
  • If you have very oily skin, you can add a few spoons of apple cider vinegar to the water instead of lemon juice.
  • Radish seeds are very effective in treating blackheads. Soak these seeds in water overnight and then grind them into a coarse paste the next morning. Apply this paste to your face for about 10 minutes and then slowly massage it into your skin. Rinse your face with warm water and then cold water. Do this on a regular basis to keep your skin free of blackheads and white heads.
  • Grate some carrot and cucumber. Allow the juice of these vegetables to drain so that you get at last a teaspoon of juice. Crush ½ a clove of garlic along with this juice and apply it to your face. Keep it on for fifteen minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Rinse your face with cold water and pat dry.
Use these remedies regularly to ensure that your face is free of all blackheads. Once a month use a face pack made out of fuller’s earth and fresh orange juice. This face pack will help to break down and absorb the excess oil within the skin pores.
