Scurvy is the result of Vitamin C deficiency in the human body. Scurvy also known as Moeller's disease and Cheadle's disease, leads to slow wound healing, anemia, spongy gums, bleeding from all mucous membranes and soreness and stiffness of the joints and lower extremities . Scurvy can be prevented by including citrus fruits such as limes, oranges, or lemons and other fruits such as, papaya, tomatoes, strawberries and guavas in the diet. Vegetable sources include broccoli, potatoes,spinach, paprika, cabbage and capsicum.
