Advice on urinary incontinence

How do you stop the frequent urge to urinate?
(29 Mar 2007)

The loss of bladder control is not a disease but a symptom with a host of causes. It can affect anyone from children to the elderly, both women and men. The 4 types of incontinence are:

  • Stress incontinence
  • Overflow incontinence
  • Urge incontinence
  • Mixed incontinence

Try these methods

  • Diary maintenance is the best way to keep a record of the time of urination, the volume and the amount of fluid consumption.

  • Check out for locally available adult diapers or disposable briefs.
  • Nicotine stimulates bladder, resulting in a cough, thereby leading to stress incontinence.
  • Shed extra weight in the abdominal region, to prevent stress on the pelvic muscles, through the bladder.
  • Empty your bladder, before going out.
