Mouth dryness can be caused due to certain medication intake; you could avoid this by – - Drinking plenty of water, even if you are not feeling thirsty. The water will help keep your mouth moist. The key is how frequently you drink, not necessarily how much you drink
- Suck pieces of fruits like peaches, cherries, apples it will help to increase saliva flow in the mouth, which can also be increased by eating soft foods and those moistened with sauces or gravies instead of hard and brittle foods.
- Drink lemon juice diluted in water or rinse a bit of lemon juice and glycerin to stimulate the flow of saliva.
- Avoid sugar; as salivary glands might not be producing enough saliva, and thus their accumulation on tooth can cause tooth decay. To keep your mouth moist you can suck on hard candies or sugar free gums.
