A severe toothache is indicative that something is wrong with the tooth so you should call your dentist as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can apply two or three drops of oil of cloves directly on the tooth itself and the gums surrounding the tooth. This may sting at first, but then the area will go numb and give you temporary relief.
