A type of facial lesion that are found either on the lips/on the skin near the mouth is referred to as cold sores. A cold sore is normally caused by the herpes simplex 1 virus. The symptoms begin with a tingling sensation on your lip which develops into a small hard spot. Check out these remedies:

1. Press a ice cube against your cold sore for instant relief.
2. Grind some rock salt with the back of a spoon. Moisten the tip of your finger and dip it in the powdered salt. Hold the salt against the sore for about 30 seconds twice a day.
3. Moisturizing agents such as petroleum jelly can be applied to cold sore scabs, as it softens them.
4. Administration of lysine supplements on proper guidance from your physician is effective.
5. Placing a tea bag on a cold sore minimizes the extent multiplication of the lesion.
6. Reishi, a type of mushroom can be taken in powder or supplement form.
7. Use a lip balm with sunscreen in it.
8. Avoid acidic and salty foods.
