Ringing ears treatment

Remedy for ringing in the ear loss of hearing
( 8 Apr 2010)

The ringing in your ears is probably due to an ear infection. As there has also been a loss of hearing it is important that you seek medical aid immediately. The human ear is divided into three parts; the outer ear, the inner ear and the middle ear.

Similarly ear infections can also be divided into two categories, namely an infection of the middle ear also known as otitis media and an infection of the outer ear also referred to as otitis externa. The former is caused when the Eustachian tubes get blocked either due to a cold or an allergy. This blockage then leads to a build up of fluid within the middle ear, and this accumulated fluid, if left untreated, may lead to a swelling of the eardrum as well. On the other hand the latter or otitis externa is caused due a bacteria or fungi. The warm environment within the ear tends to create an ideal breeding ground for these microorganisms, thus enabling them to grow and multiply. Some of the common symptoms of an ear infection are; hearing problems, dizziness, mild fever, pain or itch in the infected ear, discharge of fluid from the concerned ear, inflammation and vomiting.

Here are a few home remedies that can help in treating this condition. Garlic juice serves as an excellent remedy for this problem. Crush 3-4 garlic pods and extract their juice. Pour 2-3 drops of this juice into the infected ear twice a day. This will help in fighting the infection and it will also reduce pain, if any. Warm a teaspoon of olive oil and then put a few drops of the warm oil into the concerned ears. This remedy should be performed daily till the symptoms begin to alleviate. However, please make sure that the oil is not too hot, lest you burn yourself.

A few drops of lobelia extract, when poured into the infected ear, will also work well on an ear infection. Mix together 2-3 drops each of garlic oil and lobelia extract. Now pour a few drops of this mixture into your ear and then plug the ear with a piece of cotton. This should reduce the pain considerably. Consume food that is rich in vitamin C. This will aid in boosting your immunity, which in turn will help in combating the infection. Stay away from all kinds of oily, spicy and greasy foods as this will simply aggravate the situation.
