Acne is a very common skin ailment that affects millions of people worldwide. This condition is caused due to hormonal activities, which leads to an increase in the amount of sebum being secreted by the sebaceous glands. This excess sebum then begins to accumulate within the pores, along with dead skin cells and dirt.
The clogged pores eventually result in a pimple, blackhead or white head. This condition generally occurs in areas of the body where sebaceous glands are present, such as the face, neck, arms, back and chest.
Here are a few simple home remedies that can help in reducing the frequency of breakouts. Add fifty grams each of blackberry, strawberry and raspberry leaves, to one and a half liters of water. Place this mixture over a medium flame and let it steep for about five minutes. Now strain out the water and mash the leaves to form a thick paste. Apply a generous layer of this paste on to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes, before you rinse it off. Application of this pack will help in soothing your skin. Mix together some oatmeal and some natural yogurt. Apply this mixture on the affected area and let it air dry. Once the application has dried to form a crusty layer on your skin, rinse it off with lukewarm water. Mash a small medium sized tomato and apply the thick red pulp all over your face. Rinse the application off after about an hour. This treatment should be performed on a daily basis to reduce the appearance of pimples.
Crush 4-5 mint leaves and extract the juice. Add half a teaspoon of turmeric powder to this juice and mix well. Cover the concerned area with a generous layer of this mixture and let it dry naturally. Once the application has stayed on for about 30 minutes, you can wash it off with some lukewarm water. Mix equal quantities of rose water and lime water and apply this concoction onto the affected area at bedtime. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes and then wash it of with cold water. Consume plenty of fruits and green vegetables, they will provide your body with all the essential nutrients, which in turn will translate to healthy skin. It is important to drink sufficient amounts of water, approximately 8-10 glasses a day is recommended. Consume foods that are rich in Vitamin C and E, as they contain antioxidants that will help in rejuvenating your skin.
