Foot odor home remedies

The problem of foot odours occurs primarily due to lack of hygiene, so it is extremely important to keep your feet clean by washing them regularly. After washing your feet, dust them with foot powder or corn starch to absorb the perspiration and prevent fungal infection. You can also dust your feet with the herb sage to kill the odours.

Alternately use an antiperspirant or antifungal spray directly on your feet, unless you have some lesions. If you have a problem of perspiration, change your socks frequently, several times a day if necessary. You can try hot and cold baths to reduce perspiration. Start with a hot water bath, switching to a cold water bath and finishing off with a footbath of ice cubes and lemon juice. After this treatment, rub your feet with alcohol and dry them.

There are several foot soaks that help to control food odour. You can boil 3 or 4 teabags and add enough cold water for a foot soak. The tannin in tea works as an excellent drying agent. You can do this twice a day until the problem recedes and then repeat the procedure twice a week. Similarly you can prepare a soak using ½ a cup of kosher salt and 1 quart of water. The acidic properties of vinegar make the skin more acidic, thus reducing odours. A soak can be prepared using the same proportion. Another soak can be prepared for similar results using 1 tbsp sodium bicarbonate in 1 quart of water.
