Inflammation of the tonsils, especially the palatine tonsils is referred to as tonsilitis. It is often caused by a bacterium. Sore throat and pain on swallowing are typical symptoms.

Usually it lasts 7-10 days with treatment. To recover completely within a reasonable amount of time, it is necessary to relax for a sufficient time and this is a very important part of the healing process. Lozenges made from the mineral zinc is helpful, as use of this essential mineral in the fight against infection is also important.
