There is no cure for a common cold but there are things you can do to ease the symptoms while encouraging your bodies immune system to ramp up the fight against the bug that you caught. 1. Plenty of Rest-Take a sick day or work from home so you can sleep more and not overextend yourself. Your workmates will appreciate not being exposed to your germs and your body can redicrect the energy expended by going to work to fight off the cold.
2. Stay over hydrated, avoiding cold drinks. 3. At Home Hydrotherapy.
It may be the last thing you want to do but after a hot shower do a cold rinse, including your head, for at least two minutes. This will boost your immune system. After the cold rinse wrap a towel around your head and get back in bed until you feel warm again. 4. Increase vitamin C intake through fruits, vebetables and Ester-C. Think about 5-7,000 mg's of vitamin C, and cut back if you experience diarrhea. 5. Avoid OTC products, if you can. Suppressing a fever is cutting off your bodies attempt to kill the pathogen that got you sick. OTC remedies treat the symptoms at the cost of extended recovery time. If you must use a cold remedy or sleep aid, start with half the recommended dose.
See your doctor if the symptoms persist for more than 5 days or get worse after the initial peak of symptoms. Dr. Coleen Murphy, ND www.natmedworks.com
