Information on hair coloring

People often get their hair colored, when they get bored of their original color. A woman with raven black hair might like chestnut brown; someone with dull, brown hair might like to dye her it a deep blue; a blonde might like to turn into a brunette; someone with mousy hair could curl, crimp and color to get a crop of rebellious, red hair. Advancement in fashion technologies, has led to a variety of looks one can choose from. Along with your hair color, you can choose the look and feel of your tresses. Curl or straighten, cut or crimp, there are a variety of hair products you can choose from to turn yourself into a style diva.

It is advisable to get your hair colored by a professional hair dresser at a good salon. However, sometimes, while at a salon or at home, the process of hair coloring might go a bit awry, making you look weird. The hair color might not look as great as it did on the packet of the hair dye; the color might have come on too strong; or, you just decide that this look isn’t for you. If this happens, then you would want to strip the dye off your hair, and return to your normal coloring. It is advisable to get the stripping done professionally, and with good quality products. But, if you want to save money and do it in the privacy of your home, you can try a few home remedies.

  • Dark hair color may not be for everyone. You probably thought it would suit you, but decided that it looked way too dramatic. The thing about dark color is that it penetrates into the hair and is difficult to remove the color. It is advisable to try to strip the color as soon as possible, before the dye has time to set. Do this in a day or two after you’ve applied the color. Some people use anti-dandruff shampoos to strip the hair of the dye. You can try this to see if along with the dandruff, the shampoo strips of the color.
  • You can try an anti-residue shampoo. Apply the shampoo and keep it overnight, before washing it off in the morning. Then massage hot olive oil into your hair, keep it on for a few hours and wash it again with the anti-residue shampoo. The oil protects the hair.
  • Baking soda can be used as another home remedy. Mix some with your regular shampoo and rinse your hair with it to strip of the dye. You can use a clarifying shampoo.
