The condition you are referring to is rather common and can take the form of belching or flatulence. While common, it can cause socially awkward moments so it would be best to address the problem without delay. It is understandable that the gas can be quite strong and can be rather frequent.

One has to understand that the formation of gas is a perfectly natural process which takes place in one’s intestines. This process takes place as part of the process of digestion when one consumes food. However, the gas could be excessive and gas is also known to cause a feeling of being bloated. There could be the problem of abdominal pain as a result of such formation of gas.

A primary step in home treatment involves addressing the problem of gas formation by modifications in one’s diet. The first logical step would be to make oneself aware of the various foods that are likely to lead to gas formation as well as the kinds of beverages that have the same effect. As far as food goes a lot of high fiber foods, which are typically good for digestion, such as cabbage, are likely to be behind that gas problem. This should not be treated as a reason to eliminate nutritious vegetables from one’s diet. One has to look at alternative vegetables which provide the necessary nutrition, but without the problem of gas formation. Beans too should be avoided since they can lead to gas problems in most people. As you might have realized by now, fizzy drinks are likely to lead one to belch very quickly. It would be best to give up such drinks in favor of good old fashioned water which is the best beverage. Understand whether particular foods, such as dairy products, are a factor behind gas formation in your case since there is a possibility of lactose intolerance which you might not be aware of. It helps to get more physically active and take walks when done with a meal. Since swallowing air is known to lead to gas if done while eating, it would be best to make a mental effort to remind oneself to chew without opening one’s mouth.  This would also mean steering clear of something as innocuous as chewing gum. Do take your time over meals and remember that chewing thoroughly is important. Talk to your doctor about other possibilities such as malabsorption which might be behind your problem.
