Whitening Teeth Naturally

How can I whiten my teeth at home is there a home remedy for it
( 1 Feb 2010)

A lot of people are dissatisfied with the appearance of their set of teeth. It is only natural to want whiter teeth when our teeth turn a shade of cream or yellow. However, one has to remember that there are a range of factors which would ultimately influence how our teeth appear and what color they become.

As you might have noticed, some people naturally seem to have teeth that appear whiter than others. While this may seem strange, one has to remember that with respect to our appearances, even the appearance of our teeth, genes have a key role to play. For genetic reasons alone, some individuals are blessed with teeth that appear a lot whiter than others, despite the role of the environment. Aside from genetics, the color of our teeth is influenced by day to day life choices. A basic problem which smokers face is that the act of smoking adversely affects the teeth. This is why you might notice that smokers tend to have stained teeth or discolored teeth. At the same time it is not smokers alone who face problems such as yellowing of teeth. All of us notice that teeth tend to yellow as we get older. While age has its role to play, one has to understand that the food and drink we consume also has its part in staining our teeth. There are a number of such items that actively stain our teeth. For instance, coffee is well known for its effect on teeth. While this beverage may taste wonderful, it also leaves its mark on the color of one’s teeth. The following suggestion should help you lighten the color of your teeth over time.

In the first place, you cannot ignore how important it is to have a comprehensive dental care program in place. This means regular brushing, flossing and general care of one’s set of teeth. Buildup of plaque can not only harm our teeth but can also lead to color problems. In some cases, all that you really need is a dental cleanup which may be performed by your local dentist. This can be a slightly painful procedure if the buildup has not been seen to in a long while. Avoidance of the things that inevitably stain your teeth such as beverages like tea is important. At home remedies include the use of baking soda to obtain a whiter set of teeth. The use of this could take the form of mixing with your regular toothpaste (or one designed to whiten teeth) or simply using it with a damp toothbrush.
