Eliminating fleas
How to remove fleas?

Fleas can be an extremely resistant unwanted house guest. Most people are under the impression that it is only pets that have to face these annoying pests. The truth is that these pests can even feed on human hosts although they prefer animals.
The problem with fleas is that they are tiny and hard to get hold of. You could take all the care in the world to keep you beloved pet clean and free of pests, and yet he or she could unwittingly become the host to these fleas after coming into contact with another friendly pet during a stroll in the park. The problem then arises of fleas being admitted into the house and staying put. The task at hand then becomes not only ridding your pooch of fleas, but also making sure none still remain in the house.
A basic rule to keep in mind while eliminating fleas is that you cannot treat pets separately and their environment separately, at a different time. If you manage to get rid of all the fleas on your dog, for example, there is still the high chance of your pet getting the fleas lingering in his or her environment. One of the basic methods of flea removal would be bathing the animal and then removing these pests with the help of a flea comb. You have to be very careful as these fleas can jump really high and really fast, and can attempt to come onto your body. Vacuuming the entire house, including areas like the bed and carpet is extremely important. However, do not forget that the fleas are still inside the bag so you should get rid of it in an outside garbage collection point. Your pet’s bedding will have to be either laundered or you might have to get new bedding. When talking about cleaning the whole environment it is important not to forget the yard and lawn. Everything needs to be kept trim and free of dirt, sand and other debris. There is also the option of topical treatments which you can discuss with your veterinarian. There is very little you can really do to help your pet avoid getting fleas aside from things like monitoring that he plays with and the kind of places he visits. For instance, if another playmate is having a flea problem, even once the pet is free of fleas, there is a chance that the pet’s owner’s house might still have a few.
