Dandruff can be a total nuisance and also become a social embarrassment in some cases. But there are easy ways to get rid of it at home. All of them, however, would involve dedication and perseverance on your part.
The thing with fighting menaces like dandruff is that you should follow a pattern of hair care till it actually becomes a way of life. This way, you will not have to contend with the problem repeatedly. Using faster measures such as anti dandruff shampoos will only arrest the problem till the shampoo is in your scalp and hair. Most anti dandruff shampoos cease to work once they have been washed off. In a lot of cases and with a multitude of shampoos, it has been observed that using the anti dandruff shampoo tends to increase the problem rather than remove it. So if you are using a product like this, please stop at once. Use simple and natural home remedies instead, which will be useful and will also help to take care of your problem once and for all. To start with, you must cut your hair short. The reason for this is that shorter hair is easier to maintain.
Once this is accomplished, you need to start the rule of washing your hair every alternate day. Use a mild, preferably natural and organic shampoo. This way, you will not be drying out your scalp and causing your dandruff to increase. About an hour before washing your hair, you should take half a lime and scrub it into your scalp thoroughly. Leave this on for a while and then wash well. You will notice that while it is working on your scalp, the lime will itch. This indicates that it is hard at work removing the dandruff from the roots. You should also change your pillow cases every week, or more frequently if you can. Dandruff left behind on surfaces can lead to resurgence in your scalp too. Try not to use heating implements in your hair. These generally add to dryness, which is one of the primary causes of dandruff. You should also try and use a conditioner once your dandruff has come under control. There is no point in making your scalp dry and your hair strands brittle. You can always use henna, which is the best natural conditioner. You could use it once a month if you have short hair.
